Pillar Collapses in Kochi Apartment Complex, Residents Evacuated

Kochi: A pillar has collapsed at the RDS Avenue One apartment complex in Panampilly Nagar, a prominent area in Kochi. Residents of the affected block within the flat complex have been evacuated.

The collapse of the pillar has raised serious safety concerns for the 24 families residing in the apartment complex. Allegations have surfaced that attempts were made to conceal the dangerous condition of the building from public knowledge.

According to media reports citing eyewitnesses, the collapsed pillar shows exposed rebar. Reports also indicate that the damaged section has currently been covered with a tarpaulin sheet, ostensibly to prevent the alarming condition from becoming public. The apartment complex is located near the Passport Office.
