Malappuram Municipality Organizes Mega Tour for Over 3,000 Elderly to Wayanad

The country’s largest pleasure trip has commenced from Malappuram. The Malappuram Municipality organized this trip, taking over 3,000 elderly individuals to Wayanad in more than 80 buses. Participants were residents of the Malappuram Municipal area aged 60 and above.
The travelers ranged in age from 60 to 104 years old. Andikkadan Haleema, a 104-year-old resident of Alathurpadi, affectionately known as the ‘grandmother of Malappuram,’ flagged off the journey by handing over the flag to Municipal Chairman Mujeeb Kateri.
All expenses for the trip, including food, will be borne by the municipality. A sum of Rs 40 lakhs has been allocated from the municipal fund for this purpose. Malappuram Municipal Chairman Mujeeb Kateri stated that this journey symbolizes the municipality’s profound love and gratitude towards its elderly citizens.
Those who joined the trip also expressed overwhelming joy and excitement for the excursion.
Accompanying the travelers is a comprehensive medical team, including doctors, pharmacists, and nurses, stationed in three ambulances, with dedicated support for each village. To prevent any disruptions due to potential vehicle breakdowns, spare buses have been strategically arranged in Thamarassery and Kalpetta for immediate deployment in emergencies. The group is scheduled to visit popular tourist destinations such as Pookode Lake and Karapuzha Dam. As a token of goodwill, the Malappuram Municipality also presented each traveler with a colorful umbrella.
