Thiruvananthapuram Schools to Remain Closed on Tuesday for Onam Procession

Thiruvananthapuram: A holiday has been declared for schools within the Thiruvananthapuram Corporation limits tomorrow, September 9, in connection with the closing procession of the Onam Week Celebrations. This announcement was made by the Director of Public Education.
Additionally, the District Collector had previously announced that government and semi-government institutions in the city would also observe a holiday in the afternoon tomorrow.
City Police Commissioner Thomson Jose stated that extensive traffic and security arrangements have been implemented across Thiruvananthapuram city for the Onam Week Celebrations’ closing procession. A total of 1600 police personnel have been deployed to ensure security during the event.
**Traffic Regulations**
Traffic will be regulated from 2 PM on Tuesday on the roads from Kowdiar to Enchakkal, which are part of the procession route, as well as on other major city roads.
Vehicle parking will be strictly prohibited on the procession routes. Any vehicles found to be illegally parked will be removed using recovery services.
When the tableaux enter the Enchakkal bypass, vehicles will not be permitted to proceed from Enchakkal towards Mithranandapuram and Attakulangara.
**Important Route Changes**
* **From MC Road to Thampanoor, East Fort areas:** Motorists should travel via Mannanthala – Kudappanakkunnu – Peroorkada – Sasthamangalam – Edappazhinji – SMC – Vazhuthacaud – Thycaud, or alternatively via Paruthippara – Muttada – Ambalamukku – Oolampara – Sasthamangalam – Edappazhinji – SMC – Vazhuthacaud – Thycaud.
* **From Kazhakkoottam to the city:** The route will be via Ulloor – Medical College – Kannammoola – Patoor – General Hospital – Asan Square – Underpassage – Bakery Flyover – Panavila – Thampanoor.
* **From East Fort to Chackai:** Travel via Attakulangara – Enchakkal – Chackai.
* **From East Fort to Thampanoor, Karamana, Pappanamcode areas:** The route is via Attakulangara – Killipalam.
* **From Thampanoor to East Fort:** Travel via Thampanoor Flyover – Killipalam.
**Bus Services**
Buses scheduled to commence services from East Fort are advised to park in an orderly manner along Attakulangara – Manacaud Road and Attakulangara – Killipalam Road and operate their services from there.
Police have also urged passengers traveling to the railway station and airport to plan their journey times in advance to account for the anticipated traffic disruptions.
