Travancore Devaswom Board President Denies Links to Unnikrishnan Potty Amidst Sabarimala Gold Plate Controversy

Thiruvananthapuram: P.S. Prasanth, President of the Travancore Devaswom Board, announced that further action would be initiated following the submission of the final report by the Devaswom Vigilance regarding the Sabarimala gold theft incident. Addressing reporters, Prasanth emphatically stated that the Devaswom Board has no association with Unnikrishnan Potty. He affirmed that all pertinent documents are in the Board’s possession and will be duly presented to the newly constituted investigation team.

Prasanth also criticized the opposition, suggesting they desired the ‘blood’ of both the Devaswom Minister and the Devaswom Board President. He urged the opposition to cooperate for the smooth conduct of the upcoming Mandalam pilgrimage season at Sabarimala. Prasanth challenged the Leader of the Opposition to inquire with Unnikrishnan Potty regarding the whereabouts of the alleged gold, questioning which millionaire might be holding it.

He clarified that the comprehensive investigation committee was established at the Board’s request to the court, not the government. The investigation, he added, would proceed under the strict supervision of the court. Prasanth assured that a thorough inquiry would be conducted, with the committee mandated to submit its report within six weeks. Until then, he appealed to the Leader of the Opposition to allow the Board to focus on the significant efforts required to ensure the successful continuation of the Sabarimala festival.
