Sandeep Varier Granted Bail in Case Over Disclosing Identity of Survivor in Rahul Mamkootathil Case

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC Secretary Sandeep Varier and Mahila Congress leader Ranjitha Pulickal have been granted conditional bail in a case related to allegedly insulting a survivor who filed a rape complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil. The charges stem from the accused revealing information that could identify the survivor. Thiruvananthapuram Principal District Sessions Judge S. Naseera granted bail to both individuals.

The court imposed specific conditions for their bail, stipulating that they must not influence witnesses and should refrain from committing similar offenses. Furthermore, the court has stayed the arrest of both accused until a final decision is reached on the petition. In the ongoing investigation concerning the disclosure of the survivor’s identity, Mahila Congress Pathanamthitta District Secretary Ranjitha Pulickal, who owns the Facebook account from which information was allegedly disseminated, has been named as the first accused. Sandeep Varier holds the position of the fourth accused in the case. Notably, Rahul Easwar, who is the fifth accused, had previously been arrested.

It was reported that the survivor’s picture had been posted on Sandeep Varier’s Facebook account at an earlier time. In light of the new developments concerning Rahul Mamkootathil’s case, Sandeep Varier reportedly shared this information through a post and subsequently removed the picture. Following a complaint filed by the survivor, the Cyber Police registered a case against six individuals, including Sandeep Varier. The sections under which the charges were filed include revealing the survivor’s information to the public, insulting womanhood, and intimidation.
