Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning forecasting heavy rainfall across Kerala for the next five days, attributed to the impending influence of Cyclone Ditwah. The department has also announced yellow alerts for several districts within the state, with three districts currently facing this advisory.

Idukki, Malappuram, and Wayanad districts are specifically under a yellow alert, indicating a high probability of intense rainfall. According to IMD classifications, heavy rainfall signifies precipitation ranging from 64.5 millimeters to 115.5 millimeters over a 24-hour period. Additionally, the IMD has indicated the possibility of isolated light rain in parts of Palakkad and Wayanad districts over the next three hours.

Cyclone Ditwah is presently situated over the Southwest Bay of Bengal, north of Sri Lanka. Meteorological projections suggest that the cyclone will track in a north-northwesterly direction. It is anticipated to reach the Southwest Bay of Bengal, adjacent to the North Tamil Nadu-Puducherry and South Andhra Pradesh coasts, by the morning of November 30.
