Shashi Tharoor Dismisses CPM Move Rumors, Cites Congress Neglect

Thiruvananthapuram: Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has clarified that he has no immediate comments regarding the rumors circulating about his potential move to the CPI(M). Speaking to media persons while attending the Emirates Literature Festival in Dubai, Tharoor stated that it was not appropriate to respond to political controversies while on foreign soil.
Tharoor vehemently denied reports of having held discussions with CPI(M) leaders in Dubai earlier in the morning. He explained that he was on a flight at the time the alleged discussions were taking place and only learned about such controversies upon his arrival in Dubai. He further added that he would refrain from making additional political statements under the current circumstances.
The MP has consistently expressed his grievance about being deliberately overlooked by the Congress leadership. The most recent incident, which sparked significant controversy, occurred at a ‘Mahapanchayat’ in Kochi, where Tharoor was reportedly ignored on stage in the presence of Rahul Gandhi. It was alleged that Rahul Gandhi omitted Tharoor’s name while mentioning other leaders. While state leaders like K. Muraleedharan have openly criticized Tharoor’s stances, MP M.K. Raghavan remains a steadfast supporter.
