Republic Day Celebrations in Kerala: Governor Hoists Flag in Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram: Republic Day celebrations were held extensively across Kerala. At the official ceremony held at the Central Stadium in the capital, Governor Rajendra Arlekar hoisted the national flag. Following this, he inspected and received salutes from a parade featuring various contingents.

The parade was led by Vikas Vasishth of the Air Force. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, ministers V. Sivankutty, G.R. Anil, and several MLAs were among the dignitaries present at the ceremony. Celebrations at various district headquarters across the state were led by respective ministers, who also hoisted flags.

The parade included various armed forces, NCC (National Cadet Corps) cadets, and Student Police Cadets. For the first time in the state, National Service Scheme (NSS) cadets also participated in the parade, with 40 students from various universities taking part.
