Two Class 10 Students Drown While Bathing in Vamanapuram River

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Two tenth-grade students drowned in the Vamanapuram River while bathing with friends. The deceased have been identified as Gokul (15) and Nikhil (15), residents of Kallurkonam within the Kadakkavoor police station limits. The tragic incident occurred on Thursday evening near Kalloorkadavu in Keezhattingal Thoppichenta Peranam.

Gokul and Nikhil, students of Kallurkonam Government High School, had gone to the river with two other friends for a bath. While bathing, both unexpectedly fell into a deep part of the river. Their two friends, witnessing the accident, immediately ran to alert the locals.

Following an intensive search by local residents and fire rescue personnel, the children were recovered from the water. They were immediately rushed to Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, but their lives could not be saved. Their bodies will be handed over to their relatives after post-mortem procedures.
