Congress Leadership Intervenes in Ganesh Kumar-Chandy Oommen Dispute Over Oommen Chandy

Thiruvananthapuram: The Congress leadership has announced its decision to intervene in the escalating dispute between K.B. Ganesh Kumar and Chandy Oommen. The party leadership stated that Ganesh Kumar is allegedly spreading falsehoods against the late Oommen Chandy, and the Congress is committed to vigorously countering these attempts. The party made it clear that it would not passively observe efforts to “persecute” Oommen Chandy, even after his demise. Critics within the party contend that Ganesh Kumar acted unfairly towards Oommen Chandy and unnecessarily embroiled him in controversy. The Congress further criticized Ganesh Kumar, highlighting that Oommen Chandy maintained decorum towards him until his last moments, a courtesy that was reportedly not reciprocated.

During a recent reception for UDF members in Pathanapuram Panchayat and Block Panchayat in Kollam, Chandy Oommen had previously stated that his father, Oommen Chandy, extended the same affection to Ganesh Kumar as he did to his own son, and never anticipated such actions against his family. “The bond between my father and R. Balakrishna Pillai was profound,” Chandy Oommen remarked. “My father loved Ganesh Kumar just as he loved me. I always referred to Ganesh Kumar’s mother as ‘Aunty.’ Despite this, I never imagined Minister Ganesh Kumar would act in this manner towards my family.” He further alleged that Ganesh Kumar played a pivotal role in escalating the solar scam complaint from 18 pages to 24 pages, a case that remains ongoing in the Kottarakkara court. Chandy Oommen expressed confidence that justice would eventually prevail, reiterating that Oommen Chandy had never engaged in any unjust actions. He also questioned Ganesh Kumar’s claims, asking whether he ever located the alleged CD of Oommen Chandy, despite traveling to Coimbatore and other parts of Tamil Nadu in search of it.

In response to these allegations, K.B. Ganesh Kumar accused Oommen Chandy of betraying him and his family, leading to their separation. He claimed that Oommen Chandy orchestrated the dissolution of his family under the guise of mediation. “With elections on the horizon, this new narrative of Oommen Chandy being persecuted has conveniently emerged,” Ganesh Kumar stated. “Who are they trying to deceive with a secret that Chandy Oommen, Oommen Chandy’s son, supposedly remained unaware of all this time, only to reveal it just before an election? Is it acceptable that Oommen Chandy persecuted me? Will Oommen Chandy answer for the malicious act of destroying my family, forcing my children and me onto separate paths? Will Oommen Chandy’s son provide an answer? Was it not Oommen Chandy who deceived me? What crime did I commit to be compelled to resign my ministerial position in 2003? What case is there against my name? I was tricked into resigning my ministerial position over a family dispute, with the false promise of reinstatement,” Ganesh Kumar asserted.
