CPM Warns RSS Against Singing ‘Ganageetham’ in Temples, Citing Politicization of Faith

Kannur: The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM] has issued a stern warning to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) regarding the singing of ‘Ganageetham’ (organizational songs) within temple premises. K.K. Ragesh, the CPM Kannur District Secretary, unequivocally stated that such songs belong in RSS offices and should not be performed in places of worship.
Addressing the media, Ragesh cautioned that any attempt to sing Ganageetham inside or near temple grounds would provoke a strong public reaction. He questioned the RSS’s involvement in temple affairs, asserting that the organization is deliberately misusing religious faith for its political agenda.
Ragesh highlighted the CPM’s firm stance against the politicization of devotees’ beliefs. He reiterated that the RSS, in his view, lacks a genuine connection with faith and is merely exploiting it for narrow political gains. The District Secretary emphasized that RSS Ganageetham should be restricted to their ‘shakhas’ (branches) and organizational offices, and any deviation into temple spaces would be met with significant public opposition.
