Prime Minister Modi Embraces Thiruvananthapuram Mayor V.V. Rajesh; Deputy Mayor Ashanath Emotional

‘The pride of Thiruvananthapuram… my old friend… V.V. Rajesh…’ This is how Prime Minister Narendra Modi first addressed the Thiruvananthapuram Mayor on a public stage. Today’s events in the capital city were a source of great enthusiasm for BJP workers in Thiruvananthapuram, following their historic victory.
During the official event at Putharikandam Maidan, Mayor V.V. Rajesh’s seat was at the edge of the stage. Prime Minister Modi did not have time to personally shake hands with the Mayor amidst the crowded stage, which included the Chief Minister and the Governor. However, what Modi said about the Thiruvananthapuram Mayor in his speech was noteworthy.
‘The pride of Thiruvananthapuram… my old friend… V.V. Rajesh…’ This is how the Prime Minister addressed him. V.V. Rajesh, who was formerly the State President of Yuva Morcha, also served as the BJP District President in Thiruvananthapuram. The Prime Minister’s ‘friend’ remark was made keeping these associations in mind. BJP State President Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Union Minister George Kurian were also present on the stage. Modi patted Mayor V.V. Rajesh on the shoulder and conversed with him before leaving the stage.
Subsequently, he proceeded directly to a BJP event. There, the Prime Minister embraced V.V. Rajesh and patted him on the shoulder, congratulating him. Deputy Mayor Ashanath, with tears in her eyes, touched the Prime Minister’s feet in veneration. K. Surendran commented ‘Today is Mayor’s Day’ while sharing a picture of the Prime Minister embracing V.V. Rajesh.
