MLA Rahul Mamkootathil Accused of Destroying Family Life by Complainant’s Husband

The husband of the woman who initially filed a complaint against MLA Rahul Mamkootathil has now approached the Chief Minister and the Director-General of Police (DGP) with fresh allegations. The husband claims that Rahul Mamkootathil destroyed their family life and exploited his absence to establish an illicit relationship with his wife.
In his complaint, the husband has demanded that a case be registered against Rahul Mamkootathil under Section 84 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). He asserted that he has suffered significant reputational damage due to the MLA’s actions. The complaint states that Rahul knowingly pursued an inappropriate relationship with his wife, despite being aware of her married status, and allegedly seduced her during the husband’s absence. Rahul had previously contended that his interactions were an attempt to resolve their marital issues, a claim the husband now disputes, questioning why he was not contacted if the intent was truly to mediate.
Earlier, in a petition filed before the High Court, the 36-year-old MLA, Mamkootathil, stated that as a politician, he had maintained contact with journalists. He further claimed to have become acquainted with the woman after she informed him she was separated from her husband, and their relationship subsequently deepened over time.
However, a counter-argument emerged concerning the timing of her involvement with Mamkootathil while still legally married. The woman clarified that her marriage had lasted only one month, during which she lived with her husband for a mere four days. She had previously submitted a direct complaint to the Chief Minister regarding the matter. Following this, a Facebook post by Rahul Easwar, questioning the woman’s marital status, ignited further controversy.
The complaint details a series of disturbing incidents, including harassment and an alleged abortion, which reportedly occurred within a two-month period. On March 17, 2025, the woman was allegedly threatened, and her nude images were captured. Subsequently, on April 22, she was reportedly assaulted at a flat in Thrikkannapuram. These alleged acts continued at the MLA’s flat in Palakkad during the last week of May. Furthermore, on May 30, abortion pills were reportedly handed over to her in Kaimanam, Thiruvananthapuram. The First Information Report (FIR) also includes allegations that she was threatened with ruin if she disclosed her relationship with the MLA, and notes that the accused mutually encouraged and assisted each other in these actions.
