One-Year-Old Girl Dies in Thrissur Auto Accident on Birthday Eve
Peramangalam: A tragic accident in Thrissur has claimed the life of a one-year-old girl, Emilia, daughter of Rinson and Rinsy from Naduvilparambil, Iravimangalam. The incident occurred on Wednesday night when the auto-rickshaw she was traveling in overturned after hitting a pile of sand on the roadside. Heartbreakingly, Emilia passed away early on Thursday, just one day before her first birthday, which was scheduled for Friday. The accident took place near the Varadiyam Kooppa bridge.
The family was en route to their own home from the mother’s house in Varadiyam when the auto-rickshaw veered into a heap of sand. This sand pile was left on the roadside following canal construction work. Authorities are facing scrutiny as their failure to remove the sand after the completion of the work is cited as the direct cause of the accident.
Emilia sustained severe head injuries and was immediately rushed to the hospital for treatment. However, despite medical efforts, she succumbed to her injuries in the early hours of Thursday. Her mother, Rinsy, her six-year-old brother, Erik, and her maternal grandfather, Marydasan, also sustained injuries in the accident. Fortunately, their injuries are reported to be non-serious.
