Mobile Shop Owner Dies by Suicide in Neyyattinkara; Congress Councillor Accused of Harassment

The family of a mobile shop owner who died by suicide has filed a formal complaint against a Congress councillor in Neyyattinkara. The complaint was lodged after the municipal councillor’s name was explicitly mentioned in the deceased’s suicide note.

Dileep, 48, a resident of Neyyattinkara and owner of a local mobile shop, was discovered hanging from a tree on the roadside in Neyyattinkara town yesterday morning. A note found inside his mobile shop clearly indicated that the ward councillor had subjected him to mental harassment.

Investigations revealed that Dileep had been facing significant financial liabilities. According to the suicide note, the Congress ward councillor had allegedly subjected him to mental torment over these financial issues. Dileep’s brother has since filed a complaint with the local police against the councillor. However, as of now, the police have not yet registered a case directly against the ward councillor.

Neyyattinkara police have registered a case of unnatural death and have initiated a comprehensive investigation into the incident. Dileep Kumar is survived by his parents, Krishnankutty and Indira, his wife Aswathy, and their children, Jyothish Krishna and Navaneeth Krishna.
