‘Don’t Evade Questions of the Vulnerable by Trolling My Language’: MP A.A. Rahim Responds

Bengaluru: MP A.A. Rahim has responded to a wave of social media trolling directed at his English language skills following his visit to Bengaluru’s Kogilu Village, Wasim Layout, and Faqeer Colony, where the Karnataka government implemented its ‘Bulldozer Raj’ policy.
In a strongly worded statement, the Member of Parliament asserted that those engaged in trolling his language should not attempt to evade answering the pressing questions of the vulnerable people affected by the demolitions. Rahim’s remarks came after his English interaction with the media regarding the situation in Bengaluru became a subject of widespread online ridicule.
Addressing his critics via a Facebook post, Rahim acknowledged his linguistic limitations but underscored the singular language of human suffering. He stated, “I have linguistic limitations. But human sorrows have only one language…”
He expressed immense pride in his visit, which sought to bring to light the harsh realities of state-sponsored terror. “I visited there to seek the true picture of governmental terror. We witnessed nearly a thousand vulnerable victims who had lost everything and were voiceless,” he wrote. Rahim further highlighted that his visit brought international attention to scenes that might otherwise have gone unnoticed, forcing discussions on rehabilitation for the affected.
Rahim challenged those scrutinizing his grammar, stating that while he would certainly work to improve his language, he held no animosity towards them. He pointed out the irony that many among his critics, proficient in various languages without error, were conspicuously absent from the side of the vulnerable whose lives were shattered by bulldozers.
“As you closely examine my language, do not overlook the homes destroyed by the bulldozers sent by your government and the many innocent Indians within them,” Rahim urged. He concluded his response by reiterating his unwavering commitment: “In the rush to troll my language, do not try to escape without answering the questions of those vulnerable people. I will continue to seek out the voiceless and stand with those who are isolated.”
