Thiruvananthapuram: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) has interrogated D Mani, a prominent businessman whose name emerged in the statement of an expatriate businessman, concerning the high-profile Sabarimala gold theft case. The SIT also carried out extensive search operations at D Mani’s residential and business establishments.

The search at the residence of D Mani, a native of Dindigul, Tamil Nadu, commenced around 10:30 AM on Friday. Authorities have confirmed that D Mani’s real name is Balamurugan, indicating a deeper layer to the investigation.

The questioning and subsequent raids were prompted by the expatriate businessman’s testimony, which alleged that D Mani had been involved in the purchase of ‘panchaloha’ idols from Sabarimala. The SIT had obtained a search warrant before proceeding with the inspections. D Mani had previously been questioned by the SIT in connection with the ongoing probe.
