
Palakkad: A tragic road accident in Lakkidi, Palakkad, claimed the lives of a 29-year-old mother and her 3-year-old daughter on Monday morning. Saranya and her daughter Aadhishree, residents of Maniyangatt Colony in Thiruvilwamala Kaniarkode, died after a tipper lorry collided with their scooter from behind.
The incident occurred around 8 AM near the Kunchan Smaraka Vayanashala in Lakkidi. According to eyewitnesses, the lorry, approaching from the rear, struck the scooter, causing both Saranya and Aadhishree to be thrown onto the road. The wheels of the heavy vehicle subsequently ran over them, leading to their instantaneous death at the scene.
Mohandas, the woman’s uncle who was driving the scooter at the time of the accident, sustained serious injuries. He has been admitted to a local hospital, and his condition is reported to be stable.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption in the Lakkidi area. Local police arrived promptly to manage the situation, conduct inquest procedures, and arrange for the bodies to be moved for post-mortem examination. Authorities have initiated an investigation to determine if overspeeding by the lorry was the primary cause of the fatal collision.
