CPM Secures Wayanad Ward by Single Vote in Tight Contest

Kalpetta: The declaration of the local body election results brought an intriguing contest to light in the Karingari ward of Vellamunda Panchayat in Wayanad district. What made this ward particularly noteworthy was the razor-thin margin separating the three candidates, with each vote making a critical difference. The election in Karingari ward was, quite literally, a neck-and-neck battle.
The Communist Party of India (Marxist) [CPM] candidate, Unnachi Moythu, emerged victorious with a narrow majority of just one vote. Moythu secured a total of 375 votes. Following closely, BJP candidate Manoj Padakottummal garnered 374 votes, placing him in second position. The Congress candidate was pushed to third place with 373 votes. The winner and the runner-up were separated by a single vote, and similarly, the second and third-place candidates also had only a one-vote difference between them. The outcome in Karingari ward serves as a stark reminder of the decisive importance of every single vote in an election.
