MLA Rahul Mankootathil Asked to Vacate Palakkad Flat Over Neighbour Disruptions

Palakkad: MLA Rahul Mankootathil has been asked by the residents’ association to vacate the flat he occupies in Palakkad. The association issued a notice demanding his immediate departure, a request Rahul has acknowledged and agreed to comply with. The directive specifies that he must vacate the premises by the 25th of this month, citing disturbances and inconvenience caused to other flat residents.
This development follows MLA Rahul Mankootathil’s return to the public eye after securing anticipatory bail in two separate cases. The cases involve serious allegations, including forcing an abortion and raping a young woman under the pretext of marriage. After being out of sight for 15 days, Rahul Mankootathil recently cast his vote in Kunnathurmedu, Palakkad. Currently, in Palakkad, the MLA has expressed his intention to actively engage within his constituency. He has reportedly met with local Congress leaders in Palakkad and Mathur and visited his MLA office yesterday.
Reports indicate that Rahul Mankootathil is scheduled to travel to Adoor today. His movements are being closely monitored by a special investigation team. His return to the constituency yesterday marked the end of his 15-day period of being untraceable, coinciding with his anticipatory bail. Following his vote, Rahul briefly addressed the media, stating that “everything is before the court, and the court will decide.” He arrived at the polling station in his official MLA vehicle, which was later defaced with a chicken sticker by CPI(M) workers. Both CPI(M) and BJP activists staged protests outside the voting centre, with some even booing him. Despite his expulsion from the Congress party, Youth Congress workers were seen accompanying him.
Meanwhile, the state government has lodged an appeal with the High Court, seeking to revoke Rahul Mankootathil’s anticipatory bail in the second rape case. The government contends in its appeal that the Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court failed to adequately consider the evidence presented against him. It argues that a prima facie case of rape remains against Rahul Mankootathil in the second case filed by the Special Investigation Team (SIT). The High Court’s single bench is slated to hear the government’s appeal today.
The Sessions Court had granted anticipatory bail to MLA Rahul Mankootathil in the second rape case with specific conditions. These conditions include an instruction for him to appear before the investigating officers every alternate Monday.
