CCTV Footage from KSFDC Theatres in Thiruvananthapuram Leaked to Adult Sites; Cyber Cell Investigation Underway

Thiruvananthapuram: In a disturbing revelation, CCTV footage from theatres owned by the Kerala State Film Development Corporation (KSFDC) has been found circulating on adult websites and various Telegram accounts. The visuals reportedly capture intimate moments of couples who visited these theatres, leading to a significant breach of privacy. Following the discovery, the KSFDC promptly filed a complaint, prompting the Cyber Cell to launch a comprehensive investigation into the matter.

The leaked footage specifically originates from the Kairali, Nila, and Sree theatres, all situated in Thiruvananthapuram. Reports from The News Minute indicate that these sensitive videos are not only available for free on certain platforms but are also being sold for a fee on some adult sites. The widespread circulation through Telegram channels further exacerbates the issue, making the content easily accessible to a broader audience.

The investigation has revealed that the leaked CCTV footage dates back to as early as 2023. However, it is understood that these videos began appearing on adult platforms only a few months ago, raising questions about the timing and circumstances of the data breach. The disseminated footage is alarmingly clear, distinctly displaying the theatre’s name, screen number, the exact date, and time of recording, thus compromising the anonymity of the individuals captured.

The method of distribution often involves various Telegram groups where these intimate visuals are sold for monetary gain. In response to the grave privacy concerns, the Film Development Corporation has also initiated its own internal inquiry, engaging technical experts to ascertain how the breach occurred and to bolster security measures to prevent future occurrences. Authorities are working to identify the individuals responsible for this illegal dissemination and bring them to justice, while also striving to remove the leaked content from the internet.
