Police Intensify Search for Rahul Mamkootathil Ahead of Bail Hearing

The investigation team has been instructed not to wait for the anticipatory bail plea in the Rahul Mamkootathil case to be considered. The ADGP in charge of law and order has given this directive to the investigating officers. Police have intensified efforts to apprehend him, fearing the possibility of evidence being destroyed. The SIT team could not locate Rahul during searches conducted in Palakkad, Coimbatore, and Pollachi.
Meanwhile, Rahul’s lawyer has filed an application in court, requesting that the arguments for his anticipatory bail be heard in a closed court. The anticipatory bail application is scheduled for consideration tomorrow. The request further states that, due to the inclusion of privacy-related information, the judge should examine the evidence in a closed room, excluding others. The Thiruvananthapuram District Sessions Court will hear the petition.
According to the complaint, Rahul is accused of raping a woman, making her pregnant, and then coercing and threatening her into aborting the pregnancy. The complaint also states that he recorded her private videos without consent and used them for blackmail and coercion. Rahul, however, has submitted additional evidence to the court in an attempt to prove his innocence.
His lawyer presented WhatsApp chats, call records, and photos of the woman with her husband. Rahul refutes her claim that she was divorced at the time of the alleged incident, stating that their relationship was consensual and that the abortion was performed willingly.
Following the sexual assault allegations, Rahul was suspended from the Congress party in August. He was expelled from the parliamentary party and removed from his position as Youth Congress State President. Despite these disciplinary actions, Rahul remained a public figure at various events until the alleged victim recently filed an official complaint with the Chief Minister.
