Chargesheet Filed in KSRTC Bus Blocking Case, Mayor Arya Rajendran and MLA Sachin Dev Excluded

Thiruvananthapuram: The police have filed a chargesheet in the incident of blocking a KSRTC bus in the capital, excluding MLA Sachin Dev and Mayor Arya Rajendran. Only the Mayor’s brother, Aravind, has been named as an accused in the case. The incident, which is the basis of the case, took place in April 2024.

The incident involved an altercation between Mayor Arya Rajendran and a KSRTC driver at Plamoodu, Pattom in Thiruvananthapuram. The dispute escalated because the KSRTC bus allegedly did not give way to the private vehicle in which the Mayor and her family were traveling. Her husband, MLA Sachin Dev, was also present in the vehicle.

That very night, the Mayor lodged a complaint with the police, alleging that the bus was driven dangerously. A case has also been registered against the driver for allegedly making obscene gestures towards the Mayor and MLA Sachin Dev. The police had also registered a case against the KSRTC bus driver in connection with the incident.

The driver, Yadu, had alleged that those accompanying Arya Rajendran had verbally abused him. He stated that he was unaware she was the Mayor when the altercation occurred. Yadu explained that they attempted to overtake from the left side, but he could not give way due to lack of space, and it was not possible to allow them to overtake in the one-way section at PMG.
