BLO Removed in Malappuram After Indecent Exposure at Form Distribution Camp

Malappuram: A Booth Level Officer (BLO) in Malappuram has been relieved of his duties following an incident where he allegedly exposed himself in front of women at an SIR form distribution camp. District Collector V.R. Vinod announced the removal of the official, Vasudevan, from Booth No. 38 in Triprangode Panchayat, Thavanoor constituency, after reports of his inappropriate behavior towards the public came to light.

The incident reportedly occurred when Vasudevan, an employee of the Ponnani Block Office, was distributing SIR forms. Some local residents questioned why the forms were not being delivered to homes as per standard procedure and instead a camp was organized where elderly individuals and women were made to queue. This query reportedly provoked the BLO.

Eyewitnesses stated that Vasudevan became agitated and yelled at the locals, telling them to complain to the Village Officer. The argument escalated, with locals also engaging in a heated exchange. As some individuals began recording the confrontation on their phones, the BLO also attempted to record them. Interventions by some people initially calmed him down, and he was seated.

However, as video recording continued, Vasudevan shockingly lifted his dhoti and exposed himself in front of women standing nearby, reportedly shouting, “Then take this too.” The circulating visuals of the incident show several women turning their faces away in discomfort.

District Collector V.R. Vinod confirmed the removal of the BLO and stated that an explanation has been sought from the official. Further action will be decided upon receiving his response. Praveena, a teacher at Cheriya Parappur A.M.L.P. School, has been appointed as the new BLO for the booth, according to a press release.
