DYFI Condemns Alleged Assault on P M Arsho by BJP Leader Prasanth Sivan in Palakkad

The DYFI State Secretariat has issued a strong condemnation following an alleged assault on its State Committee member, P M Arsho, by BJP District President Prasanth Sivan. The incident reportedly occurred during a live television debate in Palakkad, prompting the youth organization to declare that such acts of aggression would be resisted by mobilizing the public.
The alleged confrontation took place during Manorama Channel’s ‘Vote Kavala’ program in Palakkad, where Arsho was participating as a panelist alongside Prasanth Sivan. The DYFI characterized Sivan’s actions as a reflection of the “anti-democratic nature and intolerance pursued by the Sangh Parivar.”
According to the DYFI’s statement, the incident unfolded during a discussion concerning the perceived failures of the BJP-led Palakkad municipal administration in addressing fundamental public issues. Prasanth Sivan is accused of exhibiting “hooliganism” by raising challenges and accusations, and failing to adhere to the basic decorum expected in a television debate.
The DYFI further warned that Prasanth Sivan’s behavior indicates the potential dangers should the RSS, the ideological parent of the BJP, gain greater influence. The organization reiterated that the public would recognize the “anti-democratic Sangh Parivar leadership” that believes it can suppress dissent by attacking the Left, which consistently opposes communal forces espousing ideologies of intolerance and violence.
The incident escalated from an argument into a physical scuffle, drawing widespread attention. P M Arsho has since reacted to the incident, details of which were reported during the channel discussion.
