Local Body Election 2025: Electronic Voting Machines from Hyderabad for Kerala Polls

The electronic voting machines (EVMs) to be utilized for the upcoming Local Body Elections in Kerala have been manufactured and supplied by the Hyderabad-based Electronics Corporation of India Limited (ECIL) to the State Election Commission. The inspection of these machines has been successfully completed under the direct supervision of ECIL engineers.
Preparations for the elections include the deployment of 50,693 control units and 1,37,922 ballot units. In the three-tier panchayat system, each polling station will be equipped with one control unit and three ballot units. Following their inspection, the candidate setting process for these machines will be initiated one week prior to the polling dates. Each ballot unit is designed to accommodate a maximum of 15 candidate names and their corresponding symbols. Should the number of candidates exceed 15, an additional ballot unit will be made available.
All necessary polling materials and official forms required for the electoral process have been distributed to the relevant officials. The EVMs will be dispatched from district warehouses to the respective returning officers approximately one week before the scheduled voting.
