Nilakkal to Get Advanced Specialty Hospital for Sabarimala Pilgrims, Costing ₹6.12 Crore

PATHANAMTHITTA: An advanced specialty hospital equipped with state-of-the-art facilities is set to become a reality at Nilakkal. Envisioned to benefit both local residents and Sabarimala pilgrims, the hospital will be constructed on land allotted by the Devaswom Board in Nilakkal. This specialty hospital is being established at an estimated cost of around Rs 6.12 crore. Health Minister Veena George will perform the construction inauguration on November 4 at 12 PM.
Minister Veena George stated that the Sabarimala Base Camp Hospital building at Nilakkal is a testament to the government’s care for pilgrims visiting Sabarimala. The hospital building, spanning 10,700 square feet, will feature a comprehensive array of facilities. On the ground floor, it will include a reception, a police help desk, three outpatient rooms, an emergency department, a nurses’ station, an ECG room, an ICU, a pharmacy, a store dressing room, a plaster room, a lab, a sample collection area, an e-health room, an electrical panel room, a lift room, and public toilets. The first floor will house an X-ray room, an office room, doctors’ rooms, a minor operation theatre, a scrub area, an autoclave facility, a dressing room, and a store room.
The inaugural ceremony will be held at the Natpandal in front of the Nilakkal temple, with Ranni MLA Pramod Narayan presiding. Other dignitaries expected to attend include MP Anto Antony, Legislative Assembly Deputy Speaker Chittayam Gopakumar, District Panchayat President George Abraham, and Travancore Devaswom Board President P. S. Prashanth.
