Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced significant changes in Kerala’s rain warning, predicting extremely heavy rainfall to continue across the state for the next five days. In response to the updated forecast, the IMD has issued Red, Orange, and Yellow alerts for various districts across Kerala.
Critically, a Red alert, signifying the possibility of extremely heavy rainfall, has been declared for three districts tomorrow, October 22, 2025. These districts are Idukki, Palakkad, and Malappuram. Residents in these areas are advised to exercise extreme caution and take necessary safety measures.
For today, October 21, 2025, an Orange alert has been issued for five districts: Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, and Malappuram, indicating heavy to very heavy rainfall. Additionally, nine districts are under a Yellow alert, forecasting isolated heavy rainfall. These districts include Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, and Kasaragod.
The IMD further stated that isolated light to moderate rainfall is expected in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, and Wayanad districts over the next three hours.
