‘Lapses in Election Activities, Fund Misused Arbitrarily’; Party Document on Disciplinary Action Against G. Sudhakaran Leaked

Alappuzha: A party document detailing disciplinary action taken against senior CPM leader and former minister G. Sudhakaran has been leaked. The document contains serious allegations, including lapses in the 2021 Assembly election activities and G. Sudhakaran’s arbitrary utilization of election funds. Although the State Committee had assessed that a higher disciplinary action was warranted, the State Committee’s report states that the action was limited to a public censure, considering his long-term service.

Following the Assembly elections, significant complaints were raised against G. Sudhakaran. Subsequently, the party appointed an inquiry commission, with K.J. Thomas and Elamaram Kareem appointed as its members. Statements were taken from party members, ranging from District Committee members to Area Committee members. The inquiry report was then submitted, detailing serious allegations against G. Sudhakaran. This related party document has now been leaked. At the time, only the news of the party issuing a public censure had been made public.

The party document points out that sufficient funds were not provided to the Ambalappuzha constituency, leading to money being borrowed at interest for election activities. The document clearly indicates that G. Sudhakaran was deliberately negligent. The report also criticizes G. Sudhakaran for remaining silent during the campaign that candidate H. Salam was an SDPI member. It further notes that he failed to fulfill his responsibilities as the in-charge of the constituency and that his actions were detrimental to the election results.

Meanwhile, CPM Alappuzha District Secretary R. Nazar stated that there is a conspiracy behind the leak of the document regarding the disciplinary action taken against G. Sudhakaran four years ago. The party will investigate this matter. He added that the party document is confidential and there is a clear plan to create discord between the party and Sudhakaran.
