Chief Minister Asks Amit Shah to Reconsider Exclusion of Kerala Districts from Maoist Threat List

New Delhi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has urged Union Home Minister Amit Shah to reconsider the decision to exclude Kannur and Wayanad from the list of districts facing a Maoist threat. The Chief Minister, who arrived in Delhi to bring various demands of the state to the attention of the Central Government, raised this request during a meeting held at Amit Shah’s official residence.

A memorandum containing suggestions to strengthen Kerala’s internal security and development was submitted. The Chief Minister also held meetings with Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Health Minister J. P. Nadda.

During his meeting with Health Minister J. P. Nadda, the Chief Minister requested that the long-standing demand for an AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Sciences) in Kerala should not be further delayed. He also emphasized the need for a National Institute for Geriatric Care in Kerala, considering the state’s significant elderly population.

In a separate meeting with Nitin Gadkari, Kerala expressed concern over delays in National Highway development projects. The Chief Minister also sought more central assistance for various infrastructure development initiatives in the state. The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi today to discuss further state-related issues.
