Muslim League Leader Slams KSU Over “Secularism” Remark Following KMO College Election Loss

Kozhikode: K.K.A. Khader, the General Secretary of the Muslim League Koduvally Mandalam, has strongly criticized the Kerala Students Union (KSU) in a Facebook post, referencing Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi. His remarks come amidst a deepening conflict between the KSU and the Muslim Students Federation (MSF) following the Koduvally KMO College Union elections.
Khader’s post was a direct response to a KSU banner displayed during their victory celebrations, which reportedly declared “MSF lost, secularism won,” implicitly branding the MSF as communal. Khader countered this by asserting, “Our secularism, which sheltered Indira’s grandchildren in this time of unrest, does not need your new certificate.” This statement underscores a perceived attack on the Muslim League’s secular credentials by the KSU.
The KMO College Union election saw the MSF lose control of the union for the first time in its history. Addressing this defeat, Khader wrote on Facebook, “One election will not be the end of the world. For the first time, our students were defeated in the KMO College student election. There might have been a mistake in identifying unholy alliances and stratagems. We will examine the failures, and correct mistakes if any. Our hopes in the children have not ended. They will return like a storm.”
This electoral loss marks a significant shift in student politics at Koduvally KMO College, where the KSU and MSF have contested elections without an alliance for the past ten years. The KSU’s celebratory banner and Khader’s sharp rejoinder highlight growing tensions and ideological differences between the student wings of the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League in Kerala.
