Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan in Delhi for Key Meetings with Central Leaders

NEW DELHI: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has arrived in Delhi for a series of high-level meetings with central government leaders. The Chief Minister is scheduled to meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah today at 11:00 AM, followed by a meeting with Prime Minister Narendra Modi tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
Chief Minister Vijayan is accompanied by State Ministers K. N. Balagopal and P. A. Mohammed Riyas. The primary agenda for these discussions includes crucial issues concerning Kerala, such as the special economic package for Mundakkai-Chooralmala, national highway development projects, and the establishment of an AIIMS facility in Kerala.
Discussions are also expected to focus on financial assistance for Wayanad disaster relief efforts. Kerala had previously submitted a request for a special package worth Rs 2000 crore to address the impact of the disaster. However, the Central government had only sanctioned Rs 260.56 crore. The Kerala delegation intends to convey that the central aid announced on October 1 for the reconstruction following the Mundakkai-Chooralmala landslide disaster is insufficient.
In addition to the confirmed meetings, there is a possibility that Chief Minister Vijayan may also hold discussions with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari to further press the state’s demands.
