Contract Worker Injured After Falling While Repairing Leak at KSEB Office

Kottayam: A contract worker sustained serious injuries after falling from a ladder while attempting to fix a leak at a Kerala State Electricity Board (KSEB) office. The incident occurred at the KSEB Assistant Engineer’s office in Kuruppanthara, involving K.K. Kunjumon (45), a resident of Vellur.

The accident took place around 9:30 AM on Friday. Kunjumon was on a ladder, replacing a ceiling sheet to stop rainwater from leaking through the roof. He reportedly slipped and fell, sustaining significant injuries to his head, face, and arm. His colleagues immediately rushed him to a private hospital in Muttuchira for treatment.

The KSEB building’s roof has reportedly been leaking for a long time, and the heavy rain on Friday caused water to accumulate inside the office. Authorities had initiated measures to address the long-standing issue; the Manjoor Panchayat had allocated five lakh rupees for the building’s renovation, and tender procedures for the repair work had already been completed. The unfortunate accident occurred just as the much-needed construction work was about to commence.
