Sabarimala to be Taken Over by Centre; PM Has Clear Vision, Says Union Minister Suresh Gopi

Union Minister Suresh Gopi announced in Thrissur that the Central Government plans to take over the administration of the Sabarimala temple. He clarified that the Prime Minister’s current non-intervention is out of respect for federalism. Gopi added that the long-standing Sabarimala issue would be resolved with the implementation of the Uniform Civil Code (UCC). These remarks were made during his address at the Kalunk debate in Thrissur.
Gopi reiterated that Home Minister Amit Shah has confirmed the imminent implementation of the Uniform Civil Code. Following its enactment, a dedicated bill for temples will be introduced, leading to the establishment of a national system for temple administration. This system will include a Central Devaswom department, under which all temples will operate. Gopi asserted that the creation of such a department cannot be opposed by anyone. He further stated that Prime Minister Narendra Modi holds a clear vision regarding the future of Sabarimala.
