Young Journalist Dies After Being Hit by Out-of-Control Car in Kozhikode

Kozhikode: A young journalist, Jafar Abdurahim, who was receiving treatment at a private hospital in Kozhikode following severe injuries sustained in a car accident, has passed away. Jafar Abdurahim, 33, a sub-editor at the Siraj newspaper, hailed from Munderi Motta Kolimoola in Kannur.
The tragic incident occurred at 12:50 AM on Saturday on the Kozhikode-Wayanad National Highway. Jafar was walking along the footpath after completing his work shift when a speeding car, which had lost control, struck him and Azeez, another employee of Siraj newspaper who was accompanying him. Azeez fortunately escaped the accident with minor injuries.
Jafar, who suffered critical injuries, was initially admitted to Kozhikode Medical College. He was later transferred to a private hospital in Kozhikode on Sunday morning for specialized care. Despite continuous treatment, he succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday morning.
Jafar had a distinguished career with Siraj, having previously served as a reporter in their Malappuram, Kannur, Kochi, and Alappuzha bureaus before his recent transfer to the Central Desk in Kozhikode. He is the son of Abdur Rahim and Jameela from Puthiya Purayil. He is survived by his wife, Zakia, and his sister, Raihanath.
