Kerala Braces for Thunderstorms and Light Rain; Alerts Issued Across Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has announced a reduction in intense rainfall across the state. The department has indicated a possibility of light rain accompanied by thunderstorms today, September 15, 2025. In its five-day rainfall forecast, the IMD has not issued any special rain warnings for any specific districts. However, the department has confirmed the possibility of light rain in all 14 districts of Kerala today.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has further warned of the likelihood of thunderstorms with rain in isolated areas of Kerala from today until September 18, 2025. Thunderstorms are hazardous and can cause significant damage to human and animal life, as well as to electrical and communication networks and household appliances connected to electrical conductors. Therefore, the public should take necessary precautions from the moment dark clouds begin to appear. Since lightning may not always be visible, these precautions should not be overlooked.

Meanwhile, the IMD has also forecast the possibility of light rain in isolated areas of Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, and Thrissur districts of Kerala during the next 3 hours.
