Aryadan Shoukath Sworn in as Nilambur MLA

Aryadan Shoukath, who emerged victorious in the Nilambur by-election, has been sworn in as a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The oath was taken in the name of God. Speaker A.N. Shamseer, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, and Leader of Opposition V.D. Satheesan attended the ceremony, along with various cabinet ministers.

Shoukath secured his assembly seat by defeating LDF candidate M. Swaraj. The UDF regained the constituency under Aryadan Shoukath’s leadership with a majority of 11,077 votes. This marks the first time the UDF has won in Nilambur since 2016. Aryadan Shoukath garnered 77,737 votes, while LDF candidate M. Swaraj received 66,660 votes. The independent candidate secured 19,760 votes, and BJP candidate Mohan George received 8,648 votes.

A total of ten candidates contested the by-election in the constituency. The election was held to fill the vacancy left by the resignation of the previous Left MLA, P.V. Anvar.
