Actor Krishna Kumar and Daughter Diya Seek Anticipatory Bail in Kidnapping, Harassment Case

Thiruvananthapuram: Actor and BJP leader Krishna Kumar and his daughter Diya have filed an anticipatory bail application in the Thiruvananthapuram Principal Sessions Court in connection with a case of alleged kidnapping and insult to womanhood. The Museum Police have registered a case against them, citing serious charges. The complaint alleges that three employees of Diya’s establishment were kidnapped and subjected to actions insulting their dignity. Actress Ahaana is among the six individuals named as accused in the case.
The employees have also had a case registered against them. However, they claim that they received money into their personal accounts at Diya’s instruction, as part of an alleged tax evasion scheme.
Diya, Krishna Kumar’s daughter, owns a fancy jewelry shop in Kavadiyar, Thiruvananthapuram. The complaint states that on May 30, three female employees who had been working at her establishment for over a year, along with their husbands, were allegedly abducted to Krishna Kumar’s office in Ambalamukku. There, they were reportedly threatened, subjected to caste-based abuse, and had their womanhood insulted.
Interestingly, a case had been registered against the employees based on Krishna Kumar’s complaint even before their complaint against him was officially lodged. Krishna Kumar’s case alleges that the employees defrauded him of ₹69 lakh by transferring money from jewelry sales to their personal accounts, claiming the shop’s QR code was faulty.
Krishna Kumar’s explanation was that he discovered the alleged fraud through friends who had purchased jewelry. When he threatened to file a complaint, the employees and their husbands allegedly came to Diya’s flat on May 30 and paid ₹5 lakh. Subsequently, they went to Krishna Kumar’s office for further discussion, where they paid an additional ₹3.82 lakh. Krishna Kumar then stated that he filed his complaint after Diya received threats later that night. He also released CCTV footage showing the employees accepting payments into their personal mobile QR codes.
However, the employees refuted this, stating that transferring money to their accounts was a method devised by Diya herself for tax evasion. They claimed they initially paid money because Krishna Kumar threatened to ruin their lives by posting the CCTV footage on social media. They further alleged that they were later kidnapped, illegally detained, and forced to pay an additional ₹3.5 lakh, which they procured by pawning their jewelry. They accused Krishna Kumar’s family, including Ahaana, and other staff of being present and involved in threatening them. The employees also claimed that Krishna Kumar’s aide impersonated a police officer to deceive them. They have also released audio recordings of Krishna Kumar allegedly threatening them, highlighting the serious allegations made by the employees against the actor and his family.
