Heavy Rain Forecast for Kerala: Yellow and Orange Alerts Issued Across Districts

Thiruvananthapuram: Amidst predictions of a strengthening monsoon, Kerala is bracing for widespread rain today and in the coming days. The Meteorological Department has forecast isolated heavy rainfall today in Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Kannur, and Kasaragod districts. As a precautionary measure, a Yellow Alert has been issued for these districts.
The rain warning continues for these same districts tomorrow (Wednesday) as well. The Meteorological Department’s alert indicates that rainfall is expected to intensify from Thursday onwards.
Orange Alert for Intense Rainfall
The Meteorological Department is predicting isolated intense rainfall for the following districts:
- Thursday: Kannur, Kasaragod
- Friday: Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
- Saturday: Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad, Kannur, Kasaragod
An Orange Alert has been declared for these districts as a measure of heightened caution.
Yellow Alert for Isolated Heavy Rain
In addition to the intense rainfall warnings, there is also a possibility of isolated heavy rain on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday in other regions. A Yellow Alert has been issued for these districts:
- Thursday: Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram, Kozhikode, Wayanad
- Friday: Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram
- Saturday: Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Kottayam
