Schools Closed in Parts of Alappuzha and Kottayam as New Academic Year Begins due to Rain

Alappuzha: As the new academic year is set to commence tomorrow across Kerala, some schools in affected areas will remain closed due to monsoon-related disruptions. Educational institutions in Kuttanad taluk and Purakkad panchayat in Alappuzha district will observe a holiday tomorrow. This decision was made following severe waterlogging caused by heavy rainfall.
Meanwhile, in Kottayam district, a holiday has been declared for Monday for educational institutions that are currently functioning as relief camps. The Kottayam District Collector has issued an order stating that the ‘Praveshanolsavam’ (admission festival) for schools serving as relief camps must be held on the first working day after the camp concludes. Furthermore, schools must ensure that their premises, classrooms, and restrooms are free from reptiles and other pests.
There were initial concerns about heavy rain impacting school reopening tomorrow. However, the absence of significant rainfall in most parts of the state today has brought some relief. The current forecast indicates intermittent rain, which has also led to a slight reduction in calamities.
