Kerala Reports 519 COVID-19 Cases, Health Minister Urges Caution, Not Panic

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala’s Health Minister, Veena George, announced that 519 people have been confirmed with COVID-19 in the state. She emphasized that there is no need for alarm regarding the current situation.

The Minister advised that the elderly, those with existing illnesses, individuals participating in public events, and those using public transportation should wear masks. She also urged people to avoid unnecessary visits to hospitals. Minister George reassured the public that systems to control the spread of the disease, including in hospitals, are fully prepared.

“RT-PCR testing facilities have been arranged in labs,” the Minister stated. “In the current situation, there is no need to implement widespread testing. The reason for detecting more cases in the state is due to increased testing efforts. There is currently no cause for concern.” She added that state-level meetings were conducted as soon as an increase in COVID-19 cases was observed globally.
