CPI(M) Nilambur Candidate Announcement Expected by Friday

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M)’s candidate for the Nilambur by-election is likely to be announced by Friday. No final decision was reached at today’s party leadership meeting. Party State Secretary M.V. Govindan informed that the decision would be made after the State Secretariat meeting concludes.

M.V. Govindan had previously stated that a consensus candidate would be fielded in Nilambur and that a suitable person would be decided upon soon. Meanwhile, the CPI(M) Secretary also commented on the UDF, stating that there is an “explosion” both within and outside the UDF.

The by-election for the Nilambur constituency was necessitated by the resignation of MLA P.V. Anvar and is scheduled for June 19.
