Patient Dies After Car Blocks Ambulance in Thalassery: Police Begin Investigation

In a tragic incident in Thalassery, a patient died after a car blocked an ambulance, delaying timely medical care. The deceased, E.K. Rukhiya (61), wife of late T.P. Soopi from T.P. House, Mattannur, Kalaroad, succumbed to a heart attack.

The incident occurred yesterday evening on Eranjoli Nayanar Road. CCTV footage shows the car driver refusing to give way to the ambulance, which was rushing the patient to a hospital in Thalassery. Despite the critical condition of the patient, the car continued to obstruct the ambulance for nearly 30 minutes.

The ambulance eventually reached the Indira Gandhi Hospital in Thalassery, but Rukhiya passed away shortly after arrival. Family members allege that the delay caused by the car was the reason for her death.

Following a complaint filed by the ambulance driver, police have launched an investigation. The CCTV footage of the incident is now widely circulating online.
