Newlywed Ends Life After Alleged Harassment Over Skin Color

Kondotty native Shahana Mumthas (19) tragically ended her life following alleged mental harassment by her husband over her skin color. Shahana, a college student, was found hanging at her residence on Tuesday morning around 10 AM.

According to her family, Shahana was constantly subjected to mental abuse by her husband, Abdul Wahid, a resident of Morayur. The allegations are directed not only against Abdul Wahid but also his family.

Reports indicate that Abdul Wahid left for work abroad just 20 days after their wedding. While overseas, he allegedly criticized Shahana for her complexion, persistently demeaned her, and pressured her for a divorce, citing her lack of proficiency in English. The family also claimed that Abdul Wahid frequently called Shahana, pressuring and harassing her, which ultimately led to this tragic incident.

Authorities are investigating the matter further.
