‘Govindan Mash is right, Congress needs minimum awareness’: Rahul Easwar on marriage controversy

Rahul Easwar has come out in strong support of CPM state secretary M.V. Govindan while launching a scathing attack on the Congress party regarding the controversies surrounding the marriage of a young couple.

Addressing the issue, which has gained significant attention following allegations related to “love jihad,” Easwar stated that the young woman in question is 18 years of age. He criticized those whom he described as “extreme Hindutva advocates” for allegedly spreading false narratives and fabricated documents to disrupt the marriage of the couple, identified in reports as Monalisa and Farman Khan.

“We must not allow ourselves to be complicit in destroying the lives of a young Muslim man and a Hindu woman due to blind anti-communist sentiment,” Easwar wrote in a Facebook post. While noting that he remains an ideological opponent of the CPM, he emphasized that truth and justice transcend political boundaries. “In this matter, Comrade Govindan Mash is speaking the truth. What Comrade Govindan and Comrade Rahim have done is commendable,” he added.

Easwar further pointed out that the Kerala High Court has already intervened by staying the arrest of Farman Khan in connection with a case he characterized as a “fake POCSO case.” He provided what he described as evidence, including the woman’s Aadhaar card, PAN card, and election records, to support his claim that the woman is an adult.

The activist did not hold back his criticism of the Congress party, urging its members to show enough awareness to understand that the narratives of “love jihad” being propagated are false. “If those complaining in the Congress party do not have the awareness to realize that Kerala-haters are spreading lies at the national level, then they are not following the path of Gandhiji,” he asserted.

Concluding his remarks, Easwar reiterated his political stance while stressing the importance of acknowledging positive actions regardless of the source. “I will always have disagreements with the CPM, but we must respect the good things they do,” he said.
