Woman Dies in Tragic Train Accident at Kottarakkara Railway Station

Kollam: A tragic incident occurred at Kottarakkara Railway Station on Monday evening around 5:30 PM, where a 42-year-old woman, Mini, from Kadakkal Pullupana Charuvilaputhen house, died after being hit by a train. She had gone to the station to see off her daughter, a nursing student.

Mini was accompanying her daughter, Nimisha, a second-year nursing student at Vinayaka College, Salem, who was boarding the Velankanni train to return to college. Mini, along with her husband Shibu, had arrived at the station to bid farewell to their daughter.

According to reports, Mini had entered the train to place her daughter’s luggage near the seat. However, before she could alight from the train, it began to move. In an attempt to exit the moving train, Mini jumped from the doorway onto the platform, but tragically fell under the train.

She sustained severe head injuries in the accident and was immediately rushed to Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital. Despite efforts to save her, Mini succumbed to her injuries. The incident has cast a pall of grief over her family and the local community.
