Shama Mohamed Publicly Expresses Dissatisfaction Over KPCC Reshuffle: “Is Competence a Criterion?”

Kochi: Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed has publicly expressed her strong dissatisfaction with the recent reorganization of the Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC). Following the official announcement of the expansive “Jumbo Committee,” Mohamed took to Facebook, posing the pointed question, “Is competence a criterion!” This public display of discontent highlights her perceived exclusion from the new committee, despite earlier assurances from the party leadership that she would be considered in this round of restructuring.
Reportedly, during the last Lok Sabha elections, there were significant speculations that Shama Mohamed would contest from Kannur. However, she was ultimately not chosen as a candidate. At that time, she was given assurances by the party leadership that she would be integrated into the party’s organizational reshuffle. Her recent public statement is a direct reaction to these promises not being fulfilled. Shama Mohamed continues to be an active political figure in Kannur.
The newly constituted KPCC Jumbo Committee comprises a significant number of office-bearers, including 13 Vice Presidents and 58 General Secretaries. Prominent leaders such as Rajmohan Unnithan, V.K. Sreekandan, Dean Kuriakose, C.P. Mohammed, Pandalam Sudhakaran, and A.K. Mani have been appointed to the crucial Political Affairs Committee. Notably, Sandeep Warrier, who recently transitioned from the BJP, has secured a position on the list of General Secretaries.
Among the new appointments, Palode Ravi, who previously resigned from his post as Thiruvananthapuram DCC President, has been named a KPCC Vice President. The list of other Vice Presidents includes T. Sarathchandra Prasad, Hibi Eden, V.T. Balram, V.P. Sajeendran, Mathew Kuzhalnadan, D. Sugathan, Remya Haridas, M. Liju, A.A. Shukoor, M. Vincent, Roy K. Paulose, and Jaison Joseph. Additionally, V.A. Narayanan has been designated as the KPCC Treasurer.
