Rapper Vedan’s Family Alleges Political Conspiracy, Files Complaint with Chief Minister

Thiruvananthapuram: Rapper Vedan’s family has officially lodged a complaint with the Chief Minister, alleging a deliberate political conspiracy to label him as a habitual offender and demanding a thorough investigation into the matter. His brother explicitly stated in the complaint that he suspects a deeper political agenda behind the accusations.

The development comes after Thrikkakara police arrested rapper Vedan on Wednesday in connection with a rape case. However, he was subsequently released following a medical examination, as he had secured anticipatory bail in the case.

The investigating team has affirmed the presence of digital evidence against Vedan. His arrest was formally recorded after an extensive interrogation conducted under the supervision of the Thrikkakara Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP). When questioned by the media, Vedan refrained from immediate comment, stating that he would elaborate on everything at a later time. The complaint, filed by a young female doctor, accuses Vedan of sexually assaulting her on five separate occasions under the pretext of a marriage promise.

Earlier, the Ernakulam Additional Sessions Court had granted anticipatory bail to Vedan in the rape case, which was originally registered by the Ernakulam Central Police. Despite facing serious sexual assault allegations, Vedan recently participated in a music program held in Konni, Pathanamthitta.

During his performance at the event, Vedan addressed the perceptions surrounding him, stating, “Many people think Vedan has gone somewhere. An artist never truly leaves. I have come to live and die this one life before the people.” His musical act was a part of the concluding day of an event named ‘Kariyad’ in Konni.
