Mobile Phone Seized; High Court Postpones Anticipatory Bail Hearing to August 18

Police conducted a search at rapper Vedan’s house in Thrissur in connection with a rape case filed against him. His mobile phone was taken into custody during the search, which was carried out by Thrikkakara Police yesterday. The High Court had earlier postponed the hearing of Vedan’s anticipatory bail application to August 18.
Thrikkakara Police registered the case against Vedan based on a complaint filed by a young doctor. The case was filed on charges of sexual assault under the pretext of marriage. The woman alleged that Vedan sexually assaulted her at various locations from August 2021 to March 2023. The case was registered last night.
According to the doctor’s statement, her friendship with Vedan began on Instagram. She claimed that after their acquaintance, Vedan raped her at a flat in Kozhikode. The victim further stated that Vedan continued to assault her at various places, promising marriage.
The woman revealed that Vedan ended their relationship in 2023, accusing her of being “toxic” and “selfish.” Previously, ‘Me Too’ allegations had also surfaced against Vedan.
