Manjeri POCSO Court Sentences 60-Year-Old to 145 Years Rigorous Imprisonment for Child Sexual Abuse
Malappuram: In a significant verdict, a 60-year-old man has been sentenced to 145 years of rigorous imprisonment in a case involving the sexual abuse of a twelve-year-old girl. Krishnan, a native of Kavannoor in Malappuram, was sentenced by the Manjeri Special POCSO Court. In addition to the rigorous imprisonment, the court also imposed a fine of ₹8.77 lakh.
The abuse occurred between 2022 and 2023. Krishnan had lured the child to his residence by offering candies and other treats. When the child resisted the abuse, he physically assaulted her. The court also ruled that the fine amount paid by the convict should be handed over to the survivor. The accused has been transferred to Tanur Jail.
Special Public Prosecutor A. Somasundaran appeared for the prosecution. The court examined 17 witnesses and presented 16 documents during the trial.
